 “Characterized by reoccurring themes and visual tropes, my work combines the imagistic with labor intensive material oriented process. The figures that anchor my pieces all have personal significance. Some of them have been with me for a long time. As a result their meanings have changed or been entirely forgotten, transformed into the quasi-archetypes of an insular world. Architectonic forms, strange people and mystical animals appear as subjects, but in practice they provide the psychic substrate upon which the art objects themselves are built. They are reasons to create. Material is layered and removed. Paint and collage is piled and sanded away in a miniature geological process. Inner kingdoms of the subconscious are concretized, buried, discovered and reinterpreted as the objects presented.”
